Tried one of their sandwiches for the first time! The roast beef and cheese is so so so good! They were busy but still served us quickly! Will definitely be visiting again!

La Gondola has always been a family favorite. And those from Decatur who move away definitely miss it! Their food is great from sandwich options like the torpedo to pasta. I have recommended La Gondola to my company for catering. The family feast will feed a family or your team. Want to try something different? Get tortellini or ravioli. I have never had issues here. Food and service are always great. And the owners are very caring, community oriented people.

We have been enjoying LaGondola since the late 1980's when we were in college North of Decatur a couple of hours. We would come spend the weekend with family in Decatur and always had to get torpedoes at least once. Now we live here and still enjoy it often. This Saturday they were very busy and all of their employees were working fast. They are efficient and treat everyone kindly. We love supporting local owners who in turn, support the community.

Tried the uncle Tony. Very, very sweet. Pretty disappointing when you're expecting a nice savory Italian style sandwich. The bread tastes like it was brushed with honey as well as a very sweet sauce(imagine strawberry jam) on the sandwich. So much you cannot taste the cheese nor the meat. Next the "grilled" peppers and onions are not grilled. Seemed to be diced small and put in microwave or a steamer. Also couldn't taste because of the sweetness. Next up, a Hot sandwich wrapped up in aluminum foil..... Equals bread soup. Soggy. Not tasty. Very thin on meat. Cheese mostly melted out. Chips were Herr's so they were OK. Fountain drink is fountain drink. For all these reasons the price is outrageous. No thanks.

I threw most of it away. It's all sweet and tastes funny. I'm not exactly sure what the draw is. Got the Uncle Tony and it has sweet bread with sweet sauce, it's half dessert and half dinner. The cinnamon bread was inedible to myself as well. Not something I'll ever try again.
